CVD, standing for Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics, is the biggest team at Sheffield formula Racing and appropriately deal with the largest proportion of the car. CVD design and manufacture the chassis, steering, suspension and much more.
CVD have been really busy this season, with new innovations such as carbon fibre wheels, wishbones and steering rods along with a new chassis, new uprights and double piston brakes. The main focus behind most of these has been to reduce the weight as much as possible. This is particularly important for the CVD team because their components make up a much larger proportion of the car’s weight, the carbon fibre wheels alone providing a saving of 4kg between them.
CVD must always be on top of their game to make sure the car handles incredibly and drives beautifully.
